Time to myself.

September 2014, and my daughter had left home to go to university for the first time. Time to concentrate on the things that had been on the back burner for a lot of years, and one of those things was to spend more time with photography. I’d been working on the technical aspects for a year or so with the specific aim that I would have reached an acceptable standard – acceptable to me anyway – by September 2014. I took this photograph of my local woods the day after she left.

I grew up on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides and I find that this has influenced many aspects of my life including the subjects that I photograph. My background is in art and I have worked as an illustrator for many years.
